Vegar Andersen is the Deputy Vice Mayor (Labour Party) of the Department of Business Development and Public Ownership in the Oslo city government. The responsibilities of the departement include the area of innovation and business development as well as City ownership of energy companies, the Port of Oslo, and construction of municipal buildings. Through the part ownership of Fortum Oslo Varme the department also manages the CCS effort of the city government. Andersen has previously served as acting Vice Mayor for the same portfolio. From 2015 – 2019 he served in the same position in the department of finance, where he worked on launching the world’s first climate budget for a city. Prior to entering politics Andersen worked as a civil servant in the Norwegian Ministry of Finance
