Martin Theuringer has joined the German Steel Federation (Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl) in 2003 and is Chief Economist since 2006 and Director for Economics since 2008. He was appointed Managing Director in April 2017.
Martin Theuringer takes responsibility in the association in particular for the areas of foreign trade policy, industrial policy, business cycle analysis, statistics, economic studies and the transformation of the steel industry. He has been a member of various industrial committees for many years, for example BDI, Worldsteel and Eurofer. He is also a recognized industrial expert on all steel and industrial policy issues. He represents the German Steel Federation in international bodies, including the Economic Committee and the Economic Forecasting Committee at Worldsteel, which he has headed for many years. He is currently also sherpa for Dr. Arnd Köfler in the National Hydrogen Council.
Martin Theuringer has studied Economics in Cologne and Kiel and made his PhD at the Economic Policy Department at the University of Cologne specializing on trade policy issues.
