Franca Diechtl studied Political Science, International Law and economic geography at the Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich.
After gaining professional experience in Paris Franca Diechtl started working for the Desertec Industrial Initiative (Dii). Her major task was to strengthen the cooperation between Germany and France in order to enable a strategic energy partnership with North African countries as well as a first pilot project in Morocco.
Since 2014, Franca Diechtl works at the German Energy Agency (dena) in order to promote European cooperation projects. She is managing projects which help to put the German Energiewende in a more international context. Amongst others, Ms Diechtl established the Franco-German Energy Platform together with the French Energy Agency ADEME. Franca Diechtl is supporting European cooperation in the area of hydrogen both on strategic as well as on project levels, e.g. by supporting the coordination of Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI).
